Please join us as we celebrate our 25th
Annual Math Bowl at Northwest Florida State College on
Friday, March 9, 2012.
We are very happy to announce new
sponsors for this year's Math Bowl: The U.S. Air Force
Research Laboratory (AFRL) and Team Eglin. For the
first time in the history of the Math Bowl science,
technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)
professionals from the local Air Force community will be on
hand to welcome students and sponsors and to help with the
ciphering competition. This presents a unique
opportunity for students to talk and interact with
professionals from a wide variety of math-related careers.
Another change this year is the date of
the competition. We are holding the Math Bowl on the
second Friday in March (3/9/12). This not only
facilitates conducting the competition but also gives us a
chance to show off our new Raiders' sports arena.
In order to prepare better for this
year's event, we are asking that registration forms be
submitted earlier than in the past, where possible.
Each participating team member will receive a raffle ticket
for a drawing for a Kindle and other prizes to be held at
the end of the awards ceremony. As an incentive, those
teams registering by February 17 will have their team
members each receive two raffle tickets. Students must
be present at the raffle to receive a prize.
If you
have any questions about this year's Math Bowl, please contact
Professor Julia Polk
(polkj@nwfsc.edu)
or call her at 850-729-5249. We look forward to seeing
all of you on Friday, March 9. Let's make this 25th
Math Bowl are largest and best ever.
