Benjamin Gillham, MFA
Ben Gillham is Professor of Graphic Design, and a graduate of Michigan State University’s Master of Fine Arts program in Graphic Design. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Art from Albion College.
Most recently, he designed the Addy® Award winning logo identity system for Northwest Florida State College, and the college’s new official seal used on diplomas and other official documents. He has art directed and designed the last five yearly issues of Blackwater Review, the College’s magazine showcasing student literature and art. He has also worked with Headquarters Air Force Special Operations Command at Hurburt Field to design innovative training materials for flight safety, for which he was given AFSOC’s Commando Safety Award for Outstanding Achievement in Safety.
Ben started his teaching career at Michigan State University in the spring semester of 1994 as a graduate teaching assistant. There he was responsible for teaching Color and Design, and traditional darkroom photography courses. Upon graduation, he accepted a position at the University of Tennessee at Martin. At UTM he was responsible for developing the Graphic Design major within the Fine and Performing Arts division. In two years the program grew strongly and doubled the number of majors in the overall Visual Art program.
