MCSA or MCSE
As an information technology professional, you have a choice of earning two different credentials to highlight your Microsoft Windows expertise – Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). Which certification is right for you and your job role, or the job you would like to have?
The MCSA credential targets IT administrators. The MCSE certification includes unique design and implementation skills that are not directly applicable to the systems administrator job function. The MCSA is designed to include a subset of the MCSE exams and is focused specially on the skills necessary to successfully manage and troubleshoot the ongoing needs of Windows 2003 Server based systems.
Choose the MCSA if you:
- Manage, support, and troubleshoot the ongoing needs of Microsoft Windows server-based operating environments.
- Have 6-12 months of experience managing and supporting a desktop server and network operations in an existing network infrastructure.
- Job titles include systems administrator, network administrator, information systems administrator, network operations analyst, network technician, or technical support specialist
Choose the MCSE if you:
- Plan, design, and implement Microsoft Windows server solutions and architectures.
- Have at least one year of experience analyzing business and technical requirements, and planning, designing and implementing solutions with Microsoft products and technologies.
- Job titles include systems engineer, network engineer, systems analyst, network analyst, or technical consultant.
