Community Education
The Community Education programs are offered in partnership with community organizations and include ecotourism programs by the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance; state/court mandated program, defense and safety programs by the Northwest Florida State College public safety department and more. Programs include Motorcycle Safety, Advanced Motorcycle Rider, Divorce Classes, Eco Tours and American Heart Association CPR trainings.
Motorcycle Safety Education
NWF State College offers motorcycle education course developed by the Motorcycle Safety
Foundation and under contract with the Florida Rider Training Program of the Florida
Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. NWFSC administers the Basic Rider
course, which is mandatory for motorcycle license endorsement, on the behalf of the
State of Florida. The Basic Rider Course teaches fundamental skills to include clutch/throttle
control, straight line riding, shifting gears and turning. A student then moves on
to more advanced skills to include stopping quickly, cornering and swerving. NWFSC
provides the motorcycles, DOT approved helmets and all classroom materials. Other
motorcycle education courses being offered include the Basic Rider Course 2 (Experienced
Rider Course) and the Advanced Rider Course-Sportbike Techniques.

American Heart Association Training Center
Children First (Parenting Divorce Class)
Children First is a four-hour seminar conducted by Northwest Florida State College
and required by the First Judicial Circuit of Florida for divorcing parents who have
minor children, families in transition, and other legal proceedings.
This course complies with Florida Statute, Chapter 98-403 HB 1019 (Marriage Preparation
and Preservation Act) for Parent Education and Family Stabilization courses.

- What Children Need to Hear
- Typical Responses to Divorce
- What Children Need to Better Adjust
- How Parents can Best Help their Children throughout Transition
You will learn effective ways to communicate with each other and to make decisions that are in the best interest of your children.
